30 days of finding feminine: Day 18

Day 18

Picture scene vintage dress
White stilettos

Jesus Christ on a bike!...

I am not happy.

If I was trying to find feminine, it certainly found me.
Anyone who knows me at all knows how left field this is for me.
I feel like I’ve gone for Grace Kelly and ended up Queen Mum….It’s as close to Kate Middleton as I’m gonna get…and it’s too close for comfort.

                                                                                          Dress - Vintage

Also noticed I’ve started to walk with a slight sway. Like I’m in a Doris Day film, about to swing around a lamppost and break into song.

                                           Shoes - Office

Makes me smile a lot though…Maybe it’s the flowers in the print.
Now there’s a thought. Bringing out my femininity, makes for a happier me.

Glasses - Monki

Pah!
I’d be happier in studded cuff and a pair of pink Converse thank you very much!!

30 days of finding feminine: Day 17

Day 17

Black skater skirt
Denim shirt with exposed shoulder
Ruffled mac
Stiletto boot

Been on a voyage of discovery over this last week….Through my wardrobe.
Perhaps it was the re-imagining of my outfits that spurred it on.
The result has been a 3 fold realisation:

1.    I have some quite frankly amazing pieces in my wardrobe.

 Denim shirt - Vintage

2.    I have great fashion taste that needs to be shared with the world
      – That’s right, also found some confidence in there as well!!!
Jacket and skirt - Miss Selfridge
And...

3.    I have bottom lip that is well and truly protruded because I can’t wear any of these treasures for another 13 days…..

Ahhhhhhh!!!!

Boots - Miss Selfridge

As a protest, I stay in all weekend.

Who am I kidding? I stay in every weekend.

30 days of finding feminine: Day 16

Day 16

Floral slip dress
Flowers in hair
Pencil heels

Got a touch of the 'Fellinis' today…Come over all Dolce Vita.

Dress - Betsey Johnson

Although truth is, I’d rather have given this outfit a bit of Courtney Love and layered it with a rock T, some DMs and an oversize denim jacket

Oh well...

I’ll just have to picture myself sashaying along some quaint Italian cobbled streets, passing men on bicycles and old women in lace...

…Forgetting the fact that cobbles in pencil heels are bloody murder…
Shoes - Donna Karan

...Intermission...Featuring Sk8ter Girl...And some French Fancies...

Me ol' mucker Katy P and I went on a work trip to Lille recently.
And we picked up these vintage beauties...

Mine is blatantly a wedding dress, but a wise person once said to me....'Potentialise, potentialise, potentialise....'

I guess its an interesting concept to start with the wedding dress and work backwards.... Lets see if this new approach proves fruitful...

Bah, but really, who gives a damn?!
I'll be rocking this with a studded biker every day of the week.  Marriage or not!!!

30 days of finding feminine: Day 15

Day 15
Pussy bow blouse
Tight khaki cropped trousers
Grey peep toe stilettos

The half way point…What have I learnt?
1)    Boys are not afraid of a strong solid colour

2)    Yes, pencil skirts may be sexy, but they also slow me down

3)    A flash of foot vamp between the end of your trousers and the start of your shoe does look quite sexy actually.

4)    The boys prefer a delicate heel.

Is it 2 weeks that addicts find the most difficult point to get over?
I am now seriously having ‘style gubbins’ withdrawal.

I am thinking of registering this at the centre for tropical diseases.
Working in fashion ain’t helping. I feel like a diabetic in a sweet shop...
Looking at my favourite blogs and mags is giving me clothes envy and it’s really starting to affect my moods.
I’m definitely eating more and going out less.
I’m starting to feel like that last bit of orange squash you use when you know that there’s not really enough left for a full glass…..but you try to stretch it anyway…

Diluted.

Today I am wearing a pussy bow blouse.
It may be vintage.
It may be vintage Gucci.
…But it is still a pussy bow blouse.

Visually this is a big change and it triggers responses.
My Creative Director says. ‘You look nice again today, but how do you feel?..Are you OK?’
Maybe the look on my face says it all. Miserable.

Our comms assistant says: ‘You look very grown up today’.

 Really?, I feel soooo boring.

One of the girls at work asks me where my trousers are from. She says she thinks ‘they’re hot’....
At this stage, I would pay her to take them off me.

I go to see our Yvonna, our retoucher for a meeting. She cranes her neck up the stairs to see what I’m wearing. ‘What have you got on? She says excitedly.

‘Wow’ she says when I get  to the office door. ‘You’re soooo…’ she reaches for the words…’pared back.
‘Yeah.’ I mumble ‘So far out of my comfort zone, I’m sending for search and rescue’.

Well, I’ve got to suck it up.

….Must….Get…Though….This…
Like Daniel Beddingfield.

…or a Thundercat in crisis.

30 days of finding feminine: Day 14

Day 14

So, today I made myself a veiled beenie hat….

Shame I can’t wear it for another 2 bleedin' weeks eh?

...Unless I'm asked to be a gothic dustman's bride....

30 days of finding feminine: Day 13

Day 13

Black skinny jeans
Long black jumper
Black stilettos

Feel very anonymous today, quite interested in my reaction to that.

…Not sure if I like it.

…What does that mean??

Doesn’t help that the day is grey… I’m grey…I’m blending in.
That’s what I wanted.
Going home to clear out some cupboards of my remaining stuff so that my dad can finally have some more space.

I have the feeling it's gonna be dirty work but bring femininity to my outfit in the form of an off the shoulder jumper, a flash of velvet bra and some killer heels.

I can't say it feels approriate for shifting boxes around, but I guess a real 'lady' probably wouldn't be doing that in the first place!!

I’m also thinking that my old Louis V is gonna turn up…I know I would never have thrown that out.

I expect John to comment or say something, but he doesn’t.

Jumper - All Saints

Bra - Topshop
Thing is, he’s seen me in so many get ups over the years, he’s probably built up some sort of St. Louis immunity.

                                                                             Customised jeans - Zara

Didn’t find my Louis V, but had a lot of fun looking at tons of old pictures of myself in my younger (hey) days – What was that black lipstick all about?... And some of those uni garms..Jesus!!

No wonder everyone used to come to me for fancy dress costumes!!
